Kitchen and Dining

The kitchen and dining area form an open, comfortable gathering space that has handled everything from everyday meals to large family celebrations and holiday dinners. The layout keeps the cooking and dining areas connected, giving the room an easy flow while leaving enough space for a full dining table and additional seating when needed.

The kitchen retains its custom built-in knotty pine cabinetry, a feature we chose to preserve because it fits the cottage’s original character. Tile countertops, a double sink and generous cabinet storage support day-to-day use, while the adjoining dining area is brightened by a large sliding-pane window installed by Wallside Windows, bringing in natural light and views of the wooded backyard.

The kitchen also includes a dedicated filtered-water spigot and ice-maker line, supplied through a Culligan water-softening and filtration system. Together, the original woodwork and practical updates give the space a mix of vintage cottage warmth and useful modern convenience.
